Du Bon Côté: men's shirts made in France

We are Bastien and Mickael, the founders of Du Bon Côté, with a shared taste for beautiful shirts. After many discussions on the subject, the idea of creating our own brand came naturally. It wasn't feasible for us to produce on the other side of the world, so we surrounded ourselves with trusted partners who were experts in their fields.

Today, we're delighted to see Du Bon Côté grow and to be recognised as an ethical fashion brand for men. We'll tell you more about Du Bon Côté's commitments since the end of 2022 in this article.

Fait en France, the magazine dedicated to French brands

Last month, we were lucky enough to be chosen by Fait en France for the magazine's cover. The Du Bon Côté shirt is therefore making its newsstand debut, alongside other committed brands such as Les bobines de Missegle, La Jaquette and Unsibeaupas.

This magazine, published by the Origine France Garantie association, is dedicated to "made in France" news. Each new issue is available every three months from over 2,200 points of sale in France and in digital format.

This opportunity allows us to spread the word about Du Bon Côté to all French people and to be part of the momentum generated by all these ethical brands.

A partnership to promote ethical fashion

Du Bon Côté is once again demonstrating its commitment to French manufacturing by setting up a partnership with La Carte Française. La carte française is a certified network of Made in France players and an initiative to promote French brands.

the French card: a network of Made in France brands

the French card is :

  • a gift card (prepaid and usable on the website or in shop)
  • an online shop open to everyone (cardholders and non-cardholders alike)With the French card, you can discover new nuggets as well as brands that have been around for decades. More than 500 brands, from fashion to gastronomy, can be found on the online shop.

Du Bon Côté: a commitment to Made in France fashion

As an ethical fashion brand for men, this is a partnership that makes sense for Du Bon Côté. The French card offers us a showcase for French consumers, and particularly for professionals. We're delighted that more and more people are aware of Made in France and have the opportunity to discover our shirts through this platform. It's further recognition of our commitment to French manufacturing.

Changing our practices for sustainable fashion

Our approach has always been to manufacture in France, and to make a point of it. The quality, finish and style are the result of unique expertise from our partners in France. With the development of our range and the emergence of new ideas (largely thanks to our community), our ambition is to be even more ethical.

Du Bon Côté, ethical fashion for men

Tired of classic shirts that all look the same and don't deliver the quality we want, we created Du Bon Côté. Our aim? To offer well-cut shirts, from S to XXXL, of a higher quality than what exists on the affordable shirt market. A number of ethical fashion brands for women have emerged in France in recent years, so we wanted to offer men more choice.

We have surrounded ourselves with trusted partners, locating all our production in France:

  • Our range of shirts is designed in Concarneau, where we are based.
  • The fibres that become the fabrics for our shirts are woven in Lyon (except for our linen shirt, which is woven in eastern France).
  • The label bearing the name of the shirt is made in Saint-Étienne.
  • All the manufacturing and the final stage of embroidery are carried out in our factory in the Mayenne region, not far from where we live.

A men's shirt made in France from A to Z

Our aim is to showcase local expertise while meeting the needs of our customers. So we came up with the idea of a linen shirt, a classic that goes with every style and is easy to wear in summer.

Thanks to the relocation efforts of a number of textile industry players in France, we now have access to expertise that had disappeared. This is the case, for example, with flax, the spinning of which no longer existed in France, even though it is the leading exporter of this material. Thanks to the 360 LIN initiative, this biodegradable, zero-waste natural fibre can now be processed entirely in France.

So we've taken the opportunity to create a shirt that's even more ethical, with every stage of production carried out in France. The linen, grown in Normandy, is then woven in eastern France before arriving at our production plant (in Mayenne).

La Belliloise, your new linen shirt for men

Pre-ordering is a production method that has enjoyed great success in recent years, particularly with ethical brands such as Asphalte, Le Slip Français and Paname.
As part of the ongoing development of our range of shirts, we naturally turned to this method as we wanted to make even greater efforts. It allows us to be more respectful of the environment and to drastically reduce transport costs. As a result, we can offer you an exclusive price for the release of the Belliloise instead of the standard price displayed on our shirts in stock.

Check it out now by clicking on the button below. Pre-orders are open until 25 March (the number of shirts is very limited).
